I was really reluctant about this. The cover is atrocious (Susan looks kinda horny, which is weird and wrong) and the concept seemed... eh. But really, the storytelling is way better than what we had with the actual show at the time (agreed, it's not very hard to beat), and the the story is not only decent, but actually good (as science-fantasy, a genre I'm not very fond of, go). If this is representative of the average quality of the DW books, I'm looking forward for the next one.

I enjoyed this story. It's nice seeing Susan and Barbara without all the 60s sexism and screaming. And the Doctor's epic wizard battle was pretty fantastic.
