If you are watching this on the disc from the Beginnings box set, make sure to skip the first episode. That one is the unaired pilot and is not as good as the actual first episode.

(Love how the intro theme song keeps playing in the background at the start.)

Very difficult to be objective about this particular episode. Yeah, it didn't age very well (same can be said about most of the first and second Doctor era, actually), but this is where it all began: the very first presentation of the TARDIS (it's the same sound since all that time!) and the Doctor, who kind of comes out as a jerk and a weirdo. Not my favorite First Doctor episode, but an essential one.

I actually really liked the way the Doctor acted when Ian and Barbara first approached him. I haven't liked the way the First Doctor acts in very many of these early episodes, but that interaction seemed very "New Who" to me. It was kind of nice to see some recognizable traits that would appear much later on in the series as the Doctor's staple traits.

Brilliant opening to a TV Show that has defined Television for 50+ years. 5/5

Also, I've a little bone to pick with Travis. Whilst a majority of Stars are 3-5, Travis has rated this 1/5. Is this proof that he never wanted to do a Doctor Who Order?
